Leona P. Andagan

Leona P. Andagan (Curatolo), age 91, of Endicott, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Wilson Regional Hospital. Leona resided at Ideal Senior Living Center (Lily Court) in Endicott. She is survived by her sister, Frances (William) Cawley; her nephews, Dennis (Lisa) Curatolo, Peter (Diana) Curatolo and Scott (Kim) Griffith; nieces, Celeste (Duncan) McCormick and Nardina (Brian) Turner. She was predeceased by her parents, Pietro and Giuseppa Curatolo; husband, Vitaliano (Andy); brothers, Joseph and Frank Curatolo; sisters-in-law, Cecelia and Adelene; sister, Sarah (Melvin) Griffith; nephews, Thomas, Paul and Kenneth Curatolo. Leona was self-employed as a hairdresser in Endicott. Her greatest joy in life was singing. She was a charter member of Tri-Cities Opera singing the soprano leads in many of their productions. Her beautiful voice especially shown in the Puccini operas: La Boheme, Madama Butterfly and Tosca. Her mentors were her teachers, Peyton Hibbitt and Carmen Savoca, who were also her dear friends. She was well known for singing solos for many organizations in the Triple Cities. She was soprano soloist at Bonner Memorial and Northminster Presbyterian Churches in Endicott and at the First Presbyterian Church in Binghamton. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A funeral service will be held on Monday at The Northminster Presbyterian Church, Endwell at 10am with the Rev. Lisa Heckman officiating. Entombment will follow at Riverhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the DeMarco Cremation & Funeral Home, 1605 Witherill St., Endicott on Sunday (Today) from 4-7pm. Arrangements are by DeMarco Cremation & Funeral Service, Endicott.
